Our members come from a diverse spectrum of professional fields, geographic locations, and socio-economic means. Some are artists or teachers, many are parents, some run organizations that contribute to our rich cultural landscape, but all are concerned with the future of arts education here in Washington State.

By joining together in membership, they are supporting a broad-based effort to ensure that arts education becomes a necessary component of every child’s basic education.

With a recent report showing that the No Child Left Behind Act has resulted in dramatic cuts to the arts in numerous schools, it’s clear that many children are not receiving the broad curriculum they need for a complete education.

Local Arts Agency Membership

Local Arts Agencies (LAAs) play an integral role in the health and vitality of community-based arts scenes. They also provide a bridge between the arts and the greater civic arena, ensuring that our municipalities nurture the individual artists and arts organizations that exist in local communities.

By joining up with ArtsEd Washington, LAAs enjoy numerous opportunities to network with, instruct, and learn from others working in the arts statewide. Working with us, your LAA can access a school and community network that is finding new and creative ways to ensure that the arts remain part of the school day. With your support, we become a stronger voice for change in our schools, helping children to receive the arts education resources they need for a full education.
