2026-2027 Programming:
Data. voices. Impact.

The last time Washington State actively collected statewide data on student arts access was 2009. For an entire generation of students, there was no data on if, when, or how students were experiencing arts learning.

In spring 2026, when the State Board of Education proposed removing arts requirements from high school graduation, there was no data to show how often students had received arts instruction in K-8, or to serve as a baseline for tracking attrition of arts classes if the high school requirements were removed.

ArtsEd Washington is proud to announce two new data sets to guide future decision-making! This year our programming is focusing on distributing the data, amplifying voices of students and staff, and creating system-wide impact for increased, equitable, sustainable arts access.
