Thanks for your interest in supporting arts education!

In odd numbered years, districts throughout Washington hold elections for School Board Candidate positions, and ArtsEd Washington invites the candidates to share their vision for arts education so that voters can make informed decisions on their ballot!

Washington is a “local control” state which means that local school districts decide how to apply state-approved policies, curriculum, and finances, not explicitly regulated by the Washington Legislature or OSPI. School board directors play an important role in ensuring that ALL students can access the benefits that come from a quality, sequential arts education.

This year, AEW invited over 700 School Board Candidates! To find your candidate’s response, just scroll to find your district and click the Educational Service District to see the full survey. We received ___ responses representing ___ school districts, __ ESDs, and across ___ counties. If you don’t see your school district highlighted, it means we didn’t receive any response from candidates in that school district.

AEW also identified trends in candidates’ self-reported understanding of current research on the impacts of arts education programming,  Washington State's requirements for arts education programming, and more.

These responses will be shown collectively, as trends from ESDs with six or more responses (n ≥ 6). Check out the regional trends here.

Thanks for being an informed participant in advocating for arts education! Remember to vote on or before November 4th!

Spread the Word

Candidates and arts advocates alike are welcome to share the responses on this website! However, please note that as a 501(c)3, ArtsEd Washington supports Arts Education for all students through voter information, and does not endorse or oppose any candidate or party.
